A first wash helps:

Remove excess microfibers from production.

Reduce static cling.

Soften and “settle” the fibers, which minimizes lint transfer.
Turn inside out before washing and use a gentle cycle to prevent pilling.
Avoid fabric softeners (they can make static worse on technical blends).
• DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENERS ever on athleisure. It weakens them in the long run.
